Perfume Nation began as a small yet insistent idea: that the sense of smell deserves the same depth, intelligence and curiosity we offer to music, literature and art.

We devote so much attention to what we see and hear, yet only the olfactory system has a direct pathway to emotional response in the amygdala and memory formation in the hippocampus. This feature of human design contains an entire world of future discovery.

It is not accidental that olfactory receptors form, by orders of magnitude, the largest sensory gene family we possess. No other sense has so much genomic space devoted to it. This is precious. This is worth exploring and goes far beyond the beauty industry cycle of new releases and marketing stories.

I wanted to create a place where scent is not reduced to trends or shopping lists, but examined as a culture, a scientific marvel and an aesthetic philosophy. A place where we can think a little more beautifully about our lived experiences.

Every episode, every inquiry, every rare perfume I bring into the studio is created independently. There is no network. No corporate sponsor. Just the work and a small circle of listeners who care about this strange and wonderful corner of culture.
